Windows 8: How to Remove Multiple Tiles from Metro Start Screen

Keeping your Metro Start screen free of clutter is important if the interface is to be of any use to you. If you have to dig through a bunch of tiles that you don’t use just to locate the one you are looking for, it can be a real time suck. Instead of removing the tiles one-at-a-time, you can get rid of all of the tiles you don’t need all at once.

Step 1 - Go to the Metro Start screen.

Step 2 - Right-click on one of the tiles that you wish to remove from the Metro Start screen. This will cause a checkmark to appear on the tile.

Step 3 - Hold down the CTRL key on your keyboard and then click on each of the remaining tiles that you wish to remove. Each tile will contain a checkmark after it is selected.

Step 4 - When you have selected all of the tiles that you wish to remove from the Start screen, go to the bottom of the screen and click Unpin from Start. All of the selected tiles will be removed from the Metro Start screen.
