Windows 8: How do I shut down (or restart) my computer?
Windows 8 brings a different paradigm to the desktop as the Start button (ORB) is no longer available. As with other versions of Windows, there are a variety of ways to go about shutting down or restarting your PC.
Option 1 - Using your keyboard, use the combination CTRL+ALT+DEL. Select the Power icon in the lower-right corner. Click on Shut down (or Restart).
Option 2 - Another way to do this with the keyboard is to use the combination WINKEY+I, select the Power icon and click Shut down (or Restart).
Option 3 - If you wish to us your mouse only, drag your mouse to the lower-right corner of the desktop so that the Charms bar appears. Select the Settings icon. Click the Power icon and click Shut down (or Restart).
Option 4 – If you are relying on touch as your method of controlling your computer, simply tap the lower-right corner of the desktop to bring up the Charms bar, select Settings, select Power and select Shut down (or Restart).
