Windows 8: Create and label groups to organize the Metro Start screen

While Metro is a cool interface, without utilizing some sort of organizing scheme, it can quickly become a huge mess that makes it difficult to find and launch the desired application. The Metro Start screen allows you to not only create groups but also apply labels to these groups which allows you to organize Metro in your own custom fashion.

Step 1 - Go to Metro and begin grouping your tiles as you would like them. To create a new group, drag a tile to an empty space on the Metro Start screen. Drag other tiles that you want in that group until the group is to your liking.

Step 2 - Go to the bottom-right corner of the screen and click the Zoom out button .

Step 3 - Right-click on the newly created group so that a checkmark appears.

Step 4 - Go to the bottom of the screen and click Name group icon.

Step 5 - Input the desired name for your new group and click the Name button.

Step 6 - The group will now be labeled with the name you chose. You can right-click on other groups to name them or left-click on an empty space on the screen to return Metro to it’s zoomed in look.
