Tumblr Keyboard Shortcuts

by Brittany Rogers

Keyboard shortcuts are always useful and handy, no matter what program or website you’re using them on. The same is true for Tumblr. While Tumblr doesn’t have an extensive list of keyboard shortcuts, there are quite a few which can prove to be helpful when browsing through your Dashboard.

J – moves you down a post on your Dashboard.

K – moves up up a post on your Dashboard.

L (after using J or K) – will like the post that is at the current top of your viewing screen.

Holding ALT while clicking the reblog button on a post will reblog the post automatically, without you having to leave the Dashboard.

Holding CTRL while clicking the reblog button on a post will open up the reblog link in a new tab, allowing you to add tags and thoughts to a post.

Use Twitter RSS to Generate an RSS Feed for any Twitter Account

Following lots of accounts on Twitter can really create an unproductive mess of tweets to try and make sense of. Using an RSS feed reader was a great way to follow lots of Twitter users without gumming things up, unfortunately, Twitter discontinued the RSS feed option. This is where Twitter RSS comes in. If you know the username for the Twitter account you want to follow, you can generate an RSS feed to use with your feed reader or widget. This allows you to be selective about accounts that you actually use Twitter for and makes things much more productive across the board. It’s simple to use, just input the desired username in the textbox and click the Get RSS button. You will be taken to the RSS feed for that username’s timeline. Copy and paste the URL from the address bar into your feed reader and you’re good to go.

However, if you have any HTML knowledge, then a custom Tumblr page will be easier to accomplish.
